By the 1970s the cyclical nature of fashion trends could be seen everywhere from the new high street department stores like Biba to our very own Wendy and Robin patterns, with the nostalgic influence of shapes and styles from the 1930s. Repeating patterns were popular for the boys and the glamour of the movies encouraged crafters to re-create iconic looks and motifs. Homespun folkloric patterns were translated onto all textiles, from homeware to the crochet bikini and a celebration of the homespun took the craft to the masses.
Please be aware that archive leaflets are genuine historical working documents. They have been professionally scanned straight from our pattern library for you to enjoy. Many are over half a century old and as such, they may not be in pristine condition. Some even include handwritten annotations from our design team, which we think only adds to their charm. Many of the yarns used for the vintage patterns have been discontinued long ago and we are therefore sadly unable to offer yarn or pattern support for any of our archive leaflets.
